Actions on the Ecosystem
By setting up a number of partnerships, L’Oréal searches in particular to:

• Promote equal opportunity in education
• Heighten manager’s awareness of diversities
• Support the development of local public authorities where the company is located
• Bring our clients and suppliers closer to our diversities policy
• Support the entrepreneurial spirit
• Promote or participate in discussion, work or study groups
• Promote the role of women in society

L’Oréal Impulsa

In 2009, L’Oréal Spain’s Professional Product Division worked with the ABD Association and the Gypsy Foundation to launch a support program targeted to young people from disadvantaged social backgrounds or ethnic minorities who are often victims of discrimination.
L’Oréal in partnership with two specialized associations provided these individuals with scholarships to help them obtain their hairdressers diplomas.

“Diversity & Performance” Chair at ESSEC

In October 2007 in partnership with Air France, L’Oréal and Deloitte, a “Diversity and Performance” Chair, the first in a major management school, was created at ESSEC. The objective of this research and teaching program was to develop an expertise centre for diversity and to train future managers on this topic.

L’Oréal / Casino Partnership: “The First Chance Program”

The Consumer Products Division in France launched in 2009 the “Disability First Chance” program in partnership with Casino supermarket chain. L’Oréal finances the school program for nearly a dozen students with disabilities to help them obtain a Technical and Commercial diploma.

Supplier Diversity

L’Oréal USA has an established Supplier Diversity Council to manage its supplier diversity initiative. This enables L’Oréal to create a broad supplier base of small, minority and women businesses. This initiative ensures that our suppliers reflect the diversity of the market in the USA.

Social Audits

All of the Groups’ suppliers undergo social audits by an independent external agency on:
• Child labor
• Forced labor
• Health and safety
• Freedom of association
• Non-discrimination
• Disciplinary practices
• Sexual and moral harassment
• Remuneration
• Working hours
• Relations with sub-contractors and suppliers.

Since 2002, more than 2,000 audits have been conducted.
